For fantastic food with a truly North Yorkshire welcome the Dog and Gun Inn located in Malsis, close to the historic town’s of Keighley and Skipton, is every inch a traditional family inn which provides good pub food and a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The building that is now the Dog and Gun Inn has been stunningly restored whilst maintaining its century old historic story through its thick stone walls and real fire stove, and the 1900’s library corner is a delightfully authentic touch.
The building dates back over 100 years to its birth in the early 1900’s when it was originally built as a farmhouse to serve the travellers and passers-by that rode or walked the dusty road that connected the original towns that are now known as Keighley, Yorkshire and Colne, just over the border into Lancashire.
The Dog and Gun Inn was originally constructed in Malsis shortly after the then landowner Sir John Horsfall ruled that public houses were disallowed in the nearby village of Glusburn. The farmhouse could continue serving weary travellers and locals from Glusburn in its picturesque location over the beck in Malsis nestled in the historic Aire Valley - the Inn has been a thriving public house ever since.
