Hello there, it’s Easter Saturday as I’m writing this in advance for a change and it’s been snowing with more forecast for tonight. Well we’ll see, as the Hurricane certainly never arrived thank goodness! Had a great meal with an old friend last night caught up on all the news put the world to rights as you do and although I’m suffering today it’s due to this awful cold which has sent me deaf in one ear temporarily I hope and not to the amount of alcohol consumed – honest!
We have a few new dishes for you to try out and watch out for home smoked items on the specials board as we’ve brought our own smoker and have so far tried Salmon, Pheasant, Duck and Chicken. Ross is having a whale of a time playing at the moment – Hugh Fernley eat your heart out.
Important Birthday looming, no not mine but our eldest will be 18 – so where did that go then doesn’t seem two minutes since we were cooing over him and now he towers above me. Are we getting shorter or are the kids just getting bigger all the time. We also have one just about to do GCSE’s – God I hope he’s revising, though I’m sure he’s rubbish at History as he seems to think I was a hippy and keeps banging on about camper vans and peace man – I guess to them we’re just old though I don’t feel any different. Well ok then maybe sometimes but I can still run rings round them and as my Mum always said you’re not too big – would have been her Birthday on Easter Sunday, do miss her still she would have loved this place.
Hope you’ve noticed our awards in the foyer, we were thrilled to get the Food Hygiene award from Craven District Council and also the Cask Marque Award for the beer – great for us, and hats off to the Staff – we couldn’t do it without them.
We’ve just put a new wine list in place too but if you have a favourite let us know and we’ll try it
