November 2006 update…

Hello there, December 1st, well where did November go, it would have been my Nana’s birthday today, and she swore by a sherry every lunchtime and a whisky every night, only ever the one though and she lived to a grand old age. Maybe Ross & I should try it! We hope you’ll like the new dishes on our menu, particularly the “Havercakes” which are on as a starter and will appear on the Specials Desserts board. We discovered these when Timothy Taylor’s asked us to provide food for their stand at the Yorkshire Beer & Food Festival.

They wanted to provide Havercakes to coincide with the re-launch of the Havercake Ale. At first we thought they were going to be a hard oatcake which were given to the soldiers to keep them going, however they are actually more like pancakes and went down a treat there with the customers and celebrity Chefs Brian Turner & Richard Fox on site, – Richard even went on to use them in his Tv programme and they were going to come here and film too but as it coincided with our family holiday, we sadly decided that the staff would have enough to do without a TV crew too. Richard said he’d mention us though and we were delighted to take part in everything or as the staff say Ross enjoyed –“faffing”.

I’m sure you’ll have noticed that the redecoration inside is now complete, new tables are here and although they have made a start outside , the weather is somewhat holding them back – but it will happen pretty soon. Just putting up all the Christmas decs as well and we’ll be putting out the new candles and foliage – just have to sort out my Christmas shopping now. Amy is really excited (ok so am I) but I have yet to drop any hints to Ross whereas Amy gave me her list a week ago, though I wouldn’t guarantee that it won’t grow before Christmas Eve!

A lot of you know my Dad, and I’m pleased to say that he is now home from hospital after his stroke and is recovering well though he is finding the stairs challenging when he needs to go up and down them several times

Have a good Christmas and New Year
Cheers for now, Ross & Anita
