May 2006 update…

Hello there, never cast a clout till May is out, was a saying I was brought up with and though we’ve had some lovely weather, I didn’t quite reach for the shorts (to wear or to drink) and as I write this it’s like April showers or a May deluge! We were delighted recently to be mentioned THREE times in the newly published Good Pub Food Guide by Susan Nowak & Jill Adam on behalf of CAMRA.

There we are with a blurb all about us, with a reference to our top quality, good value, home cooked food. They then go on to take their hats off to us for our Children’s menu and list us as one of their star pubs out of the 600 or so listed within the guide. Praise indeed, it was terrific and we hope you continue to be delighted when you come to visit.

As summer is allegedly just around the corner we have been trying out some new recipes to tempt you, so let us know what you think. We hope that you enjoy them as much as we do, and don’t forget if you have a favourite that’s not here, let us know and we’ll see what we can do for next time.

Four years we’ve been here now, and this is home – so we’re just about to embark on some re-decorating to get it back up to scratch, we’ve ordered some new tables and hopefully those people that feel a need to leave their mark will be discouraged by all of us. I’ll be going shopping to bring in some new bits and pieces – I can hear Ross groaning now but girls I’m sure you’ll know what I mean when I feel that these are important too, no offence guys! But I do love a good shopping trip!!

After the Spring Bank Holiday we’re also into a trial period of opening all day everyday, so feel free to join in the afternoon for tea or a glass of fizz on the patio, you can have a bite to eat as well if you wish. Our Wine List is also due to be updated and we’ve tried some lovely ones, so thank you to those who gave helpful comments when we were sampling on the patio.
