Hi, hurrah I hear you say this update is well overdue and as I’m writing this I can see on the Calendar that October starts on Saturday – ok so what have I been doing? Well we’ve taken on another Pub with Timothy Taylor’s – namely the White Horse over in Thornton – and no we’re not leaving here I hope you’ll be pleased to know.
It’s a pub that Taylor’s recently purchased and asked us if we’d run that alongside this one on a trial basis, ‘cuse the pun but not being one to look a gift horse in the mouth, we’d thought we’d see how we go. We’ve moved Kevin Ingram up there to manage it for us, and we’ll still be based here along with the familiar faces that you know and love – namely Andy on the floor, Chris on the Bar and Chris in the Kitchen. We seem to have a lot of staff called Chris or Mark at the moment but it’s not a pre-requiste. So apologies if we’ve missed you while we’re between the two but we will catch up with you soon and if you want to see us – just ask!
The weather has turned really nippy recently and being from Nottingham I always refer to it as Goose Fair weather as this biggest travelling fair always goes there the first weekend in October and I always associate the two.
Hospitals and feet seem to have featured somewhat highly! My Dad was first – he had to have a toe removed, but it had been playing up for a year and stopped him coming away with us. He’s on the mend however and makes all the jokes about it cos they didn’t, I’m pleased to say fix his sense of humour. Then it was Aaron’s turn, the week before going back to school he managed to turn his ankle, dislodge a piece of bone and ended up in a pot.
In my last speal Ross told me off for saying his “penultimate” birthday was looming as he took a completely different slant on what I meant so just so there’s no mistake – he’ll be 40 (oh No) on the 1st November.
Hope you enjoy the new items on the menu, which even though increased in price (due to supplier increases) we hope you still feel represent value for money, for a family coming out to tea, which was always our intention – Cheers for now
