May 2004 update…

Hi, Ross & I took over in April 2002 – well no, to be fair, Ross took over and because the children were still at school in Nottingham, we all descended at weekends for the five weeks prior to closing.

Alterations took place for 11 weeks and we re-opened on Thursday July 25th – but of course you know all of that. During our 2 years here, we are delighted to see so many of you returning, which hopefully means that you enjoy being here as much as we do.

I’m sure you’ll have noticed that the garden now has plants instead of weeds which once they’ve become established will look even more wonderful. At the bottom we have added a pergola and will eventually add a bench or two – so if you can’t find me I may be down there with a glass of wine if I’m lucky. Method in my madness too, as I’m sure those that leave behind unmentionables, will now think it’s too nice to do so!

While we were at it we added a herb garden so that we can grow our own and we’ve purchased a chicken shed so that we can soon also have our own free range eggs.

Not being content with plants in the garden – I keep adding more in here too – well it is home and I like them, though Ross thinks I’m crackers.

Talking of suggestions we do listen to you, – we’ve made the menu bigger and easier to read, we’re not often without a guest ale, we now provide newspapers, we’ve put extra things on the Kid’s menu especially for them and if you have special dietary needs, we’ll always do our best to help – my Dad’s a diabetic so we do understand – just let us know and obviously if you call us beforehand we can be more prepared.

We hope that while you’re here you’ll enjoy sharing our home and feel that the Dog & Gun is a nice place to be in whether you’re alone or with others.

Enjoy your visit and do come again – you’ll be most welcome

Ross & Anita
