April 2010 update…

Hello there, The Budget is on us again, price increases, vat up, petrol up, - well no surprise there then, rail & airlines strike for Easter and Snow. Snow! - and I thought we’d seen the last of it before we decided to put our Summer Menu out. Maybe we should buck the trend and call it our Snowy Menu!

October 2009 update…

Hello there, well I’m at that stage in life that I remember my Mum going through - you know the one when you have to sit nearer and nearer the window in order to see the paper and small print.

So I finally relented and went for the dreaded eye test. In fact Kevin and I both went as moral support for each other as although it may be an everyday event for you, it leaves me with cold shivers and happily able to pass out.

Keighley or Chicehlai

The Dog and Gun Inn lies in Malsis in Yorkshire, within close proximity to the town of Keighley, a place that beholds a long history dating back to the 9th century with its entry in William The Conqueror’s doomsday book.

Keighley was once known as ‘Chicehlai’ 100 years previously - the meaning of the name was ‘the field belonging to ‘Chyya’. During the 18th and 19th centuries, Keighley and the areas around the town such as Malsi

May 2009 update…

Hello there, since I last spoke to you there really have been some highs and lows, sad times and good times with lots in between. My Dad who many of you knew has now gone to join my Mum and though I know they’ll be happy together once more - I really miss him and find myself constantly looking for signs that they’re watching and that they’re ok. I find them too even though Ross thinks I’m losing my marbles but when I was struggling I asked Dad to help and two Deer ran across the road in front of me - happy as Larry and I saw two Robins in my friends garden, and to me they were Mum & Dad enjoying themselves and saying we’re ok.

Hi all you bloggers out there - welcome to the Pub

Interior shot of the Pub

I’m Anita and with my Husband Ross run the Dog & Gun at Malsis, Sutton In Craven between Keighley and Skipton. Well that in itself can be a contradiction in terms as most people think we’re in Glusburn, but officially we’re not and it’s all due apparently to the lay of the beck so just for the record there are four Pubs in Sutton and none in Glusburn.
